Tel Aviv – Masada – Dead Sea Beach – Jerusalem

Masada

This morning journey towards the south, visit the cliff top fortress of Masada. It had been built by Herod the Great and the place is an important symbol of bravery to the Jewish people. The siege of the Romans ended with a suicide of all Jewish fighters in the first century. Ascend the top by a 3 minutes cable car ride, spend time visiting the remains of the Northern Palace, a Roman bath, huge water cisterns, and the siege wall.

Dead Sea Beach

Continue to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. The water of the lake is so salty, it allows you to float.

Jerusalem

Then transfer to your hotel in Jerusalem, driving along the Judean desert. Overnight in Jerusalem.

This day is dedicated to see the new city of Jerusalem. Drive to the picturesque village of Ein Karem, the place where John the Baptist was born.

Visit the Israel Museum, an important art and archaeology museum. See the famous Dead Sea Scrolls in the Shrine of the Book and the model of Jerusalem in the Second Temple period.

Jerusalem Old City

If the situation allows, visit to the Temple Mount, known as Haram El Sharif. You see the Al Aksa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock, two of the most important Islamic sanctuaries (non-Muslims are not allowed to enter the buildings). From the Temple Mount Prophet Mohammad ascended to heaven. The Temple Mount is the place, where the Jewish Temples stood 2,000 years ago. The Western Wall or Wailing Wall is the last remnant and the holiest site in Judaism. You will see today how it draws Jews from all over the world to pray here. Then we follow the 14 stations of the Way of the Cross, the Via Dolorosa, ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. The church is built over the place where Jesus was crucified, buried and resurrected.

Mt. Olives

Afternoon short drive to the Mount of Olives for a spectacular view of the city and the most important Jewish cemetery. Walk down Palm Sunday Road to the Garden of Gethsemane. We see along the way the Chapel of Ascension, the Pater Noster Church, the Dominus Flevit Church and the Maria Magdalena Church, marking all important events in the life of Jesus. From the Church of All Nations we drive to the nearby Mount Zion. See here the Last Supper Room, the Dormition Abbey and the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, the traditional site where St. Peter denied Jesus three times.

• Please note that the tour to Bethlehem can be cancelled without prior notice due to security circumstances.
• Official check in time at hotels 15:00 – check out time at hotels 12:00.
• We do not check the availability of accommodation when planning your trip. Once you booked and any hotel is not available, we search an alternative and inform you.
• Breakfast at hotels is served in the main restaurant.
• The driver/tour guide escorts you according to the booked itinerary, he is not 24/7 at your disposal.
• For the Dead Sea beach don’t forget swimwear, flip flops and water sandals.
• All guides in Israel are licensed by the Ministry of Tourism and are not part of our team.
• The old city of Jerusalem is closed to private vehicles.
• The Western Wall area is open every day. However please note that on Friday evenings and Saturdays, tourists are not allowed to take any photos.
• Temple Mount Opening Hours: Mon-Thu, winter time: 07:30-10:30, 12:30-13:30 – Mon-Thu, summer time: 08:30-11:30, 13:30-14:30 - Fri & Sat closed.
• For the visit of religious sites you need to dress modestly and cover shoulders and knees.
• For the Dead Sea beach don’t forget flip flops and water sandals.

- Cancellations or changes need to be sent in written form. Charges are as follows:
• 25 $USD of the total price of the trip for cancellations from the date of booking until 31 days before departure.
• 25% of the total price of the trip for cancellations or changes made 30 to 08 days before departure.
• 100% of the total price of the trip for cancellations or changes made 07 to 01 days before departure or no show.
