This trip starts with a visit to the highlights of Jordan like Jerash and the Dead Sea area. After that you will have an escape into nature. Two days you hike at a moderate grade through Dana, Wadi Feynan to Wadi Araba, a world crossed by the Bedouins since thousands of years. From Wadi Araba a Jeep takes you off road through the dramatic desert scenery to the rock city Petra. After all these amazing impressions return to Amman.

Breakfast, then we drive in the north to visit the well preserved Roman city of Jerash with the Oval Plaza, the Cardo and the Temple of Artemis.

From here we drive to the Islamic castle Ajloun with panorama views of the Jordan Valley.

In the morning, transfer to Mt. Nebo, believed to be the burial sight of Prophet Moses, his death, is commemorated through an early Christian church decorated with marvellous mosaics.

Hike Dana - Wadi Feynan

Dana Nature Reserve is characterized by a chain of valleys and mountains which extend from the top of the Jordan Rift Valley down to the desert lowlands of Wadi Araba. Today, the hike of about 6 hours, shows you the beauty and various nature of the area.

Wadi Feynan

The tour ends in Wadi Feynan, where 3000 years ago copper had been mined and worked up. Dinner and overnight in the Feynan Eco Lodge at the middle of the desert.

Wadi Araba

After breakfast we continue our way to the wide Wadi Araba, part of the Great Rift Valley. Here, let yourself affect by the beauty of the desert gorges and mountains, reaching a height of 1.700 meters, the coloured splendour of the landscape, ranging from red to beige sand dunes. The area is still inhabited by Bedouin tribes. Dinner and overnight in a camp in Wadi Araba.

Wadi Araba - Namala - Little Petra - Petra

In the morning we go on by 4x4 Jeep off road to Wadi Namala, the connection to Little Petra. We have panoramic views over the surrounding mountains.

Certainly pay a visit to Little Petra, in Nabatean times the meeting point for the camel caravans.

A short ride takes us to Petra, check in at your hotel, the rest of the day is free.

Petra

Today, we visit the red rose city Petra, Jordan's biggest attraction. Petra was established around the 6th century B.C. by the Nabataean Arabs, a nomadic tribe who settled in the area and founded a commercial empire. From the Visitor's Center we walk to the Siq, the narrow canyon, and go on to the most beautiful monument: the Treasury. Stroll along the Street of Facades and the Theatre to the Royal Tombs and Pharaoh's Castle. Overnight in Petra.

After a leisurely morning we drive via the Desert Highway back to the capital Amman, where you have time on your own to do some last minute shopping. Farewell dinner will be at an Arabic restaurant, overnight at hotel.

Practical Info

• Official check in time at hotels 15:00 – check out time at hotels 12:00.
• Breakfast at hotels is served in the main restaurant.
• The driver/tour guide escorts you according to the booked itinerary, he is not 24/7 at your disposal.
• All guides are licensed by the Ministry of Tourism in Jordan and are not part of our team.
• In case of rain the government may decide to close Petra for safety and security reasons.
• For the Dead Sea beach don’t forget swimwear, flip flops and water sandals.
• The Petra ticket includes a 700 meters horse ride from the main gate to the beginning of the Siq. The ride is not mandatory; the horse handler expects a tip of 5 JOD per horse.
• Ramada Hotel at the Dead Sea has no direct access to the beach, please check with the reception on the transfers.
• To respect the local culture please cover shoulders and knees.
• It is not permitted to bring telescopes or drones without permission to Jordan.
• For camping we recommend to bring the following: sleeping bag, backpack, towel, flashlight, comfortable clothes and shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, headgear / scarf as protection against sun and wind, hygiene products, toilet paper, first aid kit (for headaches, cold, etc.).
• Bivouac Camping: Tents will be set up for customers. Each tent can accommodate 2 people and is equipped with mattresses and blankets. There is no bathroom, water for washing is provided.
• Travel time: September - May
• Clothes: riding trousers, cap, sunglasses, sun block, windproof jacket, torch, gloves, warmer clothes for cooler nights, scarf as protection against sun.

- Cancellations or changes need to be sent in written form. Charges are as follows:
• 25 $USD of the total price of the trip for cancellations from the date of booking until 31 days before departure.
• 25% of the total price of the trip for cancellations or changes made 30 to 08 days before departure.
• 100% of the total price of the trip for cancellations or changes made 07 to 01 days before departure or no show.
- For refunds we do not cover transaction fees charged by credit card companies and banks.
