This is a 7 day active itinerary suitable for travellers arriving from the South border of the Kingdom. Explore the stunning desert of Wadi Rum via camel and jeep with your local guide. Complete the unique Bedouin experience with a stay at a camp. Moving to Petra, see majestic rock-cut monuments, the siq and more. Continue northwards with a stop at Shobak, Dana and the Dead Sea for a night. Drive further north, visit the Roman- Greco ruins of Umm Qais and Jerash, then to Ajloun Castle. Lastly, visit the historical places in the downtown of Amman and see the newest addition to Jordan's list of UNESCO World Heritage Site, the town of Salt.

Day 1
Araba Border - Wadi Rum Tour - Wadi Rum    

Our representative welcomes you with a signage inside the Jordan Terminal of the Araba Border. Travel to the protected area of Wadi Rum, one of the most impressing desert landscapes in the world. Meet your camel guide and his camel. Start to ride towards the red sand dunes through Rum and Um Ishrin valleys. On the way, you will have a stop at Lawrence's spring. After looking at the Nabatean inscriptions in Anfashiyeh you leave camels to cross a sand dune, your guide with a jeep will join you for a lunch and rest in the shade of the mountain. In the afternoon, by jeep you visit natural rock bridges in Jebel Burdah and Um Fruth. Then to Um Fruth Bridge (which is about 20meters high and a favourite for climbers) walk through Abu Khasheba canyon. The Bedouin guide will wait you at the end of the canyon and drive you to the sunset place before going to our camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2
Wadi Rum - Petra Visit - Petra    

After breakfast at the camp, drive to the red rose city Petra, the biggest attraction of Jordan. First established around the 6th century B.C. by the Nabataean Arabs a nomadic tribe who settled in the area and laid the foundation of a commercial empire that extended into Syria. With the guide, pass the canyon, the so-called Siq, to see the most beautiful monument: the Treasury. Continue via the Street of Facades to the Royal Tombs and Pharaoh's Castle. The guide says farewell to you at the restaurant area; free time to explore Petra on your own. Overnight in Petra

Day 3
Petra - Little Petra - Shobak - Dana - Dead Sea    

Head on north with a stop to the bizarre landscape of Little Petra, visit Siq el-Barid, a miniature Petra with its modest gorge (Siq) that leads into an area of carved tombs and monuments then to the Crusader castle in Shobak built by king Baldwin I. of Jerusalem. Stop at Dana Village, since more than 400 years inhabited by Bedouins, and located in Jordan's largest Nature Reserve, with a diverse flora and fauna, consisting of mountains and wadis. Continue to Dead Sea, with 400 meters below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth, where ever since the days of Herod the Great, people have flocked to in search of its curative secrets. Check in to your hotel, the rest of the day is free for your leisure.

Day 4
Free Day Morning - Madaba - Mt Nebo - Amman    

Free time in the morning. After check out, drive to the town of Madaba, where you find the famous mosaic 6th century map of Palestine in St. George’s church. After that, continue to Mt. Nebo, the place where Prophet Moses gazed at the promised land before he died and alleged to be his burial place. You visit an old monastery; overlook the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and parts of the Holy Land. Continue to your Amman Hotel, check in and overnight.

Day 5
Amman - Umm Qais - Jerash - Ajloun - Amman    

Journey north with a two hour drive from Amman to Gadara (Umm Qais), which belonged to the famous Decapolis, a union of 10 cities, founded by Alexander the Great. Here you have an overwhelming view over the north Jordan Valley, the Golan Heights and the Sea of Galilee. We leave to Jerash, the best example of a Roman provincial city in the whole Middle East. Visit the spectacular forum, Roman colonnaded street, the Nymphaeum and the Temple of Artemis. Next stop is Ajloun to see the great 12th century Islamic castle built around 1184/85 by the famous Islamic leader Salah al-Din. Back to Amman for overnight

Day 6
Amman - Amman City Tour - Salt - Amman    

Start the day with a city tour in Jordan's capital. Amman, already mentioned in the Bible as Rabbath Ammon, is a bustling modern city. The historical places are located in downtown, where we visit the Citadel with remains from the Roman to the early Islamic period. Then we have a round in the Archaeological Museum. We stroll via the Souq, where you get an idea of everyday life, to the Roman Theatre from 2nd century with 6000 seats. Then to the town Salt. Here you walk along the Hammam Street to see the highlights of the 19th century architecture of this period, houses with long-arched windows in picturesque narrow streets. Well known is the Abu Jaber mansion, built between 1892 and 1906, reputed to be the finest example of a 19th century merchant house in the region. Overnight Amman hotel.

Practical Info

• Official check in time at hotels 15:00 – check out time at hotels 12:00.
• Breakfast at hotels is served in the main restaurant.
• The driver/tour guide escorts you according to the booked itinerary, he is not 24/7 at your disposal.
• You walk several km in Petra, so bear in mind good walking shoes and a backpack for beverage, camera etc.
• The spot guides in Jerash & Petra are licensed by the Ministry of Tourism in Jordan and are not part of our team.
• In case of rain the government may decide to close Petra for safety and security reasons.
• For the Dead Sea beach don’t forget swimwear, flip flops and water sandals.
• The Petra ticket includes a 700 meters horse ride from the main gate to the beginning of the Siq. The ride is not mandatory; the horse handler expects a tip of 5 JOD per horse.
• 4x4s in Wadi Rum are old vehicles without A/C and seat belt. They belong to the local Bedouin association.
• For camping we recommend to bring the following: sleeping bag, backpack, towel, flashlight, comfortable clothes and shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, headgear / scarf as protection against sun and wind, hygiene products, toilet paper, first aid kit (for headaches, cold, etc.).
• Wear comfortable walking shoes and depending on season pack sun protection.
• Araba Border opening hours: Sun- Thu 08:30-15:00, Fri & Sat is closed. May change without prior notice.
• To respect the local culture please cover shoulders and knees.
• It is not permitted to bring telescopes or drones without permission to Jordan.

- Cancellations or changes need to be sent in written form. Charges are as follows:
• 25 $USD of the total price of the trip for cancellations from the date of booking until 31 days before departure.
• 25% of the total price of the trip for cancellations or changes made 30 to 08 days before departure.
• 100% of the total price of the trip for cancellations or changes made 07 to 01 days before departure or no show.
