Leave Amman and drive south to visit Madaba, where the oldest map of the Holy Land exists on the floor of St. George's Church, the Mosaic School and Mt. Nebo, the alleged burial site of Moses. From the Dead Sea, we drive to the breathtaking scenery of Wadi al Mujib, a deep valley which is now a reserve home to 400 species of plants, 186 species of birds and 250 species of animal. Today we will visit the famous pink rock city of Petra, voted now as new world wonder, we start the trip on horseback and then on foot. This city was carved into the rose-red Sharah Mountains by the Nabateans and lost to civilization until rediscovered by the Swiss explorer Burkhardt. We walk through the Siq, to reach the Treasury, the Roman Theater, the Courts, Qasr Bint Pharaoun, Temple of the Winged Lion and Royal Tombs.
