Amman Hotel - Jerash - Anjara - Umm Qais - Amman Hotel

Jerash
In the north of Amman you visit the best preserved example of a Roman provincial city, Jerash with its theaters, churches, temples, a Nymphaeum and colonnaded streets.

Anjara
We go on to Anjara and visit the Shrine of Our Lady of the Mountain. Here Virgin Mary and Jesus had a rest during a journey.

Umm Qais
Head further north to Umm Qais, the antic Gadara, with its Hellenistic-Roman remains. According to the Bible, Jesus healed here demoniacs and the demons running as swine into the Sea of Galilee. From Gadara you have a magnificent view over this Sea, the Jordan Valley and the Golan Heights.

Baptism Site
After breakfast, we drive to the Jordan Valley, to Bethany at the Jordan River. This is the place where the baptism of Jesus Christ by John the Baptist took place. We also have a look at Elijah's Hill, where Prophet Elijah ascended to heaven.

Mt Nebo
From here, we drive to Mt. Nebo, the burial site of Prophet Moses with overlooking the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea.

Madaba
Then we visit the mosaic city of Madaba, where the oldest map of the Holy Land exists on the floor of St. George's Church. More mosaics can be seen in the Archaeological Park, which houses some masterpieces from Byzantine churches. Overnight in Madaba.

Um Ar Rasas
We start the tour with an hour drive to Um Ar Rasas, one of Jordan’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Highlight of this excavation site is the mosaic floor of the Church of St Stephen from 785. Not far way, we pass by a Stylite tower. The structure is witness to the practice of ascetic monks, who spend their life at the top of a pillar.

Along the King's Way, where Prophet Moses and the Israelites has walked.

Kerak
Then we drive through the land of Edom and Moab to Kerak. We visit here the great Crusader castle and the tomb of Prophet Noah.

The red-rose city of Petra is a unique destination. More than 2000 years ago the area was settled by the Nabataeans who carved magnificent buildings in the sandstone. We walk through the Siq, an immense crack in the stone, to see at the end Petra's most impressive monument: the Treasury. You walk along the Street of Facades, see the Royal Tombs, Qasr al Bint and the young at heart can climb up the 800 stairs to the Monastery El Deir. Overnight in hotel.

Today we drive 1.5 hours to the dramatic Wadi Rum, one of the most impressing desert landscapes in the world. By 4x4 jeep we drive to sand dunes, spectacular rock formations, canyons and Nabatean rock inscriptions. Dinner will be served at a Bedouin camp in the desert where we also spend the night. And maybe you have the same feeling like Lawrence of Arabia who described Wadi Rum as "god-like“.

Lot’s Cave
In the morning we drive from the desert to the Dead Sea. En route we visit Lot's Cave near the town of Safi. Here Prophet Lot lived together with his daughters after he fled the sinful cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.

We head on to the beach at the Dead Sea, where you can relax the rest of the day and float in the salty water.

Today we visit important places in Amman. The town has already been mentioned in the Bible as Rabbath-Ammon, the capital of the Ammonites. Our tour will take you to the Citadel with its remains from the Roman to the Byzantine period and the Archaeological Museum housing excellent artifacts like the Dead Sea Scrolls. You will visit the Folklore Museum and the Roman Theater from 2nd century as well as the Coptic Church. The rest of the day is for leisure or you discover parts of the capital on your own account. - Cancellations or changes need to be sent in written form. Charges are as follows:
• 100 $USD of the total price of the trip for cancellations from the date of booking until 31 days before departure.
• 25% of the total price of the trip for cancellations or changes made 30 to 08 days before departure.
• 100% of the total price of the trip for cancellations or changes made 07 to 01 days before departure or no show.
